Strange Afflictions

I'm not sure what it is, but this has been a year of firsts. I lost my voice for the first time a few months ago. And now? Well, I got gout. At least that's what it's likely to be (will need a blood test in a few months to confirm).

I don't know that much about it, and it's far too late (early) for me to explain it properly. Suffice it to say that I woke up on Thursday with a swollen and sore right foot, around the base of the big toe. It was bearably painful to get through the day limping and such, and improved in the evening. However, I woke up Friday morning worse, and by the time I had seen the doctor it was very painful just getting to the pharmacy. Anyway, after a couple of hours the anti-inflammatory pills eased things, and by nightfall I could walk around with only minimal discomfort. Also received pills to reduce the excess levels of uric acid, which is the cause of gout.

Anyway, is just a week now 'til I have a week off, and 2 weeks before my friend's wedding =) How quickly another year has passed (not surprising really... it's always like this)!
